Hey everyone, I was just thinking about the stat system, and i though it was strange that some of the stats have caps. (where they stop).

Such as strength, defense, and speed. The more training a person does, the more points they get, and eventually they'll reach a level where the tow stats that can't be maxed (attack and defense) will be maxed. And speed as well, that'll eventually be maxed, then people will be as fast as one another because of the simple cap that is there.

In my opinion, the attack defense and speed stats shouldn't have a cap, and they should just be a number, but still include the "levels" aspect of the attack and defense battle formula, and the "levels" aspect of the speed (every 10 points being a level).

well unlike the other stats, attack and defense stop at 200 instead of 100. You can only ever have 500 stat points at level 50. that means, if you distribute them evenly, you should have 100 in every stat and thus not maxing out attack or defense. Speed might be different, I could make that 200 as well seeing how people have put their stats together (ie 90% of people have almost already maxed speed, some have already as well). With that being said whats your take on that?

I think if anything, the attack, defense and speed stat allow for the most speialization.
Maybe not a change NOW, but a change in the future when everybody starts to get closer together would be best. But I think it would be good if the speed was raised to 200. Just some people still would like to max out stats regardless of if they're allowed or not. So eventually the caps will destroy the specialization aspect of character who are more strength than anything else, or more speed than anything else.

yea, like i said, i didn't know how people would reach to the stats and how they would distribute them. no that i got a good feel for it i also thing speed should be increased to 200. BUT that throws in a big gap as to what I'm going to fill those extra 100 points with.

I dont think i can think of to words describing ones skill on a latter from bad -> better.
Thats just a lot of words. So changing it to a number would be good.
Or you could just say each new rank comes with 20 points?

I'd still say increase the rank implements above 100 to 20 points a go. It will decrease the value of every point essentially, so realistically, only those who specialise in speed will consider it. That, or raise the cap to 150 and not 200. Or! Allow speed specialists (like me and yokkyu, as former second division / second division caps) the ability to break the speed limit by 20 points. Same could be done for magic specialists. It will allow those who specialise is an aspect to be unrivalled in those areas, but not too much.

what would govern who would be able to break those caps though?

I came up with a solution to this when writing this.

How about having the release stats (which was discussed in another topic) be able to break the caps?

That wouldn't be bad, although I'm not sure how it would work for Shinigami unless we just let them have a stat increase upon releasing their zan. If that's the case, viz shouldn't receive the bonus as they will have a mask to gain such an increase, aye?

well, not all releases give bonuses. for the shinigami unless it's a melee zan, all it really did was raise their reiatsu. the only shinigami that gained other increases other than the obvious reiatsu increase was ichigo with strength, speed etc etc.

well all releases increase the power between two people. like a captain fighting in bankai against his lieutenant in shikai. this is the "power gap" at the basis of our stat system so it could work. speed and magic can also be increased by what you said just by special gains for your release like ichigos increases speed.

I suppose so.
I like the idea that we should have simple Specializations that allow people to break the gap of the stats depending on their specialization. Obviously Squad 11 would specialize in power, so they could be the only ones capable of maxing out strength (since it's 200 O_O) and members of Squad 2 can surpass 100 speed and any other member that is a logical speed spec. As well as for the other specs . That sounds like a good idea.

Why not make it so that each stage release simply raises one's affecting stats by 10 points? Those races that might have only one release get a 15 boost or some such thing. Simple and straight forward. A dual stat system would get a tad too confusing I think.

well a lot of zans dont do that. a lot of zans simply raise reiatsu. which would help with battle differences, but wouldnt really get distributed into speed, magic telekenisis or any of the others unless it's a melee one that has the logical ability to do so.

My zanpakutou for example wouldn't really do much of a rise for my character, because thats just now how it is lol

Nevertheless, your combat ability improves during a release, otherwise one wouldn't have it, it also allows you to release a higher reiatsu. So, an increase in attack and defense (or one of the two) would be a logical approach.
